THE ISLAND

Located in the Torres Strait, Roko Island is a small privately owned Island by the Tchen Pan family. It is about 20 minutes boat ride from the Seisia wharf, Cape York, about an hour from Thursday Island, and 30 minutes from the most Northern tip of Australia.

Roko Island used to be a pearl farm, cultivating South Sea pearls. Since 2015, it has become a popular destination for visitors, offering the Torres Strait’s only unique eco-lodge experience through glamping (glamorous camping).

Guests can also enjoy fishing charter trips, day fishing charters, day visits, and customised guided day tours for those who want to explore more of the Cape York and Torres Strait for a truely unique experience. Roko Island also offers a one-of-a-kind comfort cruise in the area (a 53 ft motor cruiser), featuring the three-island cruise as well as fully customised cruise experiences.

On Roko Island, we strive to create an atmosphere where guests can feel truly connected to nature. From the moment you arrive, this harmony with nature becomes a part of your experience. From the jetty, the bar, the common areas, to the restrooms and also many of our decorative features, they are mostly crafted from sustainable, recycled, and often locally sourced materials that blend seamlessly with the island’s natural surroundings.

Our eco-lodges, offered in the form of glamping tents, are nestled in nature and overlook stunning ocean views, providing comfort while keeping you close to the elements.

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. On Roko Island, we also minimise environmental impact by using renewable energy such as solar power, and conserving water through rainwater harvesting and our island dam system.

We also follow sustainable fishing practices, keeping only what we need and releasing the rest. While our experienced chefs cater for a range of dietary requirements, our most popular meals are our freshly prepared dishes made from locally sourced sea food. Guests can enjoy a ‘Catch & Cook’ experience, where their fresh catch is prepared and served gourmet style- delicious, and straight from the ocean to your plate.

At Roko Island, our fully licensed bar is stocked with a wide selection of refreshing cocktails and ice-cold beers on tap.

Roko Island is the ultimate island escape for everyone- couples, families, friends, and solo adventurers alike. Relax and unwind amidst stunning natural surroundings, or turn your visit into an adventure with our fishing charters, day trips, and customised tours. Whether it’s a serene getaway or a fun filled day with mates, Roko Island get away could be what you need to create memories that last a lifetime.
